OK so you have been lurking on the forum and you want to say hello, but the photo posting thing has got you baffled and its putting you off because you know that when you say hello everyone will ask to see a picture of your dog, well have no fear, its not that tricky.
Step 1: Go to http://photobucket.com/
Its FREE to join (don't sign up for mobile phone stuff cos thats when they charge you) and allows you to host your photo's. You need to host your photo's with an online photo server to be able to post them on the forum as each image needs a URL (website address thingy)
Step 2: You now have a photobucket account, so you need to go to "your album" which is where all your photo's will be stored. In your album will be a bit where you can upload images from your PC, you will see an empty box with browse beside it. So click on browse and that should access your C drive and if you go where the pictures are stored on your PC you should be able to find the image you want to post, double click on it, then go to the big "upload" button and press it (photobucket allows you to browse for up to 3 pictures to upload but you only need to choose 1)
Step 3: so you picture is now uploaded and will appear in your album with a title (or a bit that says click to add title), then some blue writing with share, edit delete, then image underneath that and then some URL boxes under that. You now need to resize the photo so that it fits in the forum. So above the image in blue you will see "edit", click on that, this will open the image up and give you some more options, look for "resize" just above the image - a drop down box will appear that says - avatar, thumbnail, email, message board. You are going for message board so click on that. It will ask are you sure, say yes, and bingo, its the right size for your post.
Step 4: OK your image is ready to go into your introduction post, if you have just edited your image then on the right hand side of the image are some URL boxes (if you don't need to resize the image and you are in your album then its the boxes underneath). You will see URL link, HTML Tag and IMG Code. You want the IMG Code, if you click in the IMG code box, it will say copied (just as if you have copied a url yourself ready to paste, well photobucket does it automatically)
Step 5: type out your introduction and where you want your photo to appear just click paste (do not worry about any other buttons on the forum as photobucket add's IMG tags directly).
You will see something like this in your text
(IMG)webby address thingy(/IMG)
If you want to check what your post will look like click on preview post instead of post new topic and that will show you if the image is there.
That should be you ready to join and say hello.
For those of you not using photobucket, you will need to add IMG tags, its not tricky. Above the text box are lots of little pink option boxes (under the title you have given your post, on the bottom line is IMG - click on that and paste the URL of the image into the pop up box and then click OK, the image tag will appear where you left your cursor.
Good luck and any questions feel free to ask.
