Well today was Jess' first competition, we were not really ready for it, but it was so local and only a low key 4way match between some local clubs.

It was absoluely peeing it down and 2 degrees.
We got an E ( I understand from spanielmadhouse thats for excellent!)

Ok so wait, 1 jump, second straight in front, oops we'll just bog off hard right to the A frame, Eliminated wrong course. They let me go again but obviously it was not to count. Brilliant!

We did the course perfectly. Well the correct course perfectly, my handling has a HUGE way to go but we certaily didn't disgrace outselves on this occasion. Good contacts apart from on the seesaw, ( which was OK just not great) weaves were good too, not super quick or anything, but in the right pole from the right place and didn't miss any

We had a great time watched some good dogs go, and froze whilst it was peeing it down. It got muddy before our second run, then we had sleet, then snow in flakes bigger than 50p's. It was abandoned so we didn't do aymore.

It was good fun though and such a low level, and I guess we may make an apearance at another show. I will need to get Jess measured though

Well done.

Daisy got an E in her first competition, but we went back a couple of months later to the same place and she got a 3rd and 2nd place.

I try and stay as relaxed as I can, and go for a clear round - anything more is a bonus.

Most of all I make it fun for Daisy and thankfully she measured medium recently - yay!!

We dusn't hav a weeveis where yoo go down da middul, der is only da opshun to go hin ant howt. Muma put sum stiks in da gardin in tho. and we played wiv da clika, I no wot too do, eye is just slow ant stedy (shh don't tel da uva spagnolz that bit!)

Well done you and Jess, that doesn't sound bad at all, especially with the revolting weather conditions

She will settle down with experience and practice, it sounds like she is doing great! Sometimes it seems the spaniels are allergic to that white paint down on the bottom of the contact obstacles (OBI, that means you

) and weaves are easy to speed up once they've got the idea. Obi picks up loads of time in the weaves that he might lose elsewhere against the pesky collies!

Oh the joys of agility. We were driving back from Kenilworth yesterday morning and I said to Mike I hoped you were not getting too wet. Brought back lots of memories of weekends spent in the rain.

At least if it was a weekend show, we could hibernate in the caravan until it was our turns to run.

Well done both of you - once you have the first one under your belt it is onwards and upwards.

Well done , I admire anybody who has a go in adverse conditions especially when its there first event ! I am considering getting Jay and myself into agility but am a little unsure at the moment but may be going to have a look at a local agility club tomorrow to see what i think , Must admit it does sound like fun tho

If you want to look at agility for Jay he wld start in the first class and progress up through bronze, silva, gold, advanced and then competition..our club has just got organised to kennel club standards, only encouragements, praise positive reinforcement (we were previously getting told offs!!).
Riley used to do Rally at another training place, which is a mixture of agility and obedience and we re going to have the chance to do that for a month free to see if the dogs like it on a sunday morning, same time as agility...he's got lovely long legs, should be good

Murphy and I also got an "E" for excellent in our first competition in similar weather. The first jump was followed by the sea saw and I sat him neatly in front of it. Easy to know after the event but all he could see was the sea saw and he ran under the first jump (he is a very small "large" dog)
I should have sat him a bit to one side.
He then specacularly popped the weaves. He never does this!

Well, more "E's" to come for us all, no doubt, before we reach the dizzy heights of grade two!
