So - it's coat blowing time for my springer cross - carpet is constantly white and hairy and I know it's not all mine!! (mine's silverin places - not white or grey as I keep telling the children!!!)

Last year I invested in some wahl clippers but scalped the poor dog and was worried about sunburn!

Any recommendations as to which would be the best sized blade to buy please?

Thank goodness my working springer doesn't have this issue too or I'd up to my ankles in hair!!

10 is a good all around blade, did you get guards with your clippers? They are plastic snap on thingies that help you cut evenly at a proscibed length.

I've just had a good rummage to discover the clippers are Andis not Wahl - doh! Think they take same blades anyway? It came with a 7 and a 10.

I used a 7FC last year which was much too short, so guessing a 10 wouldn't be much different really - or was it that I'd furminatered the poor girl about a fortnight before?

Maybe I should go for it - the hair will always grow back, and the weather is going to cool a little so hopefully no risk sunburn?

a 10 blade is too short for a Springer, a 7F is OK or if you want it slightly longer a 5F is a good blade

Oh I'm silly - didn't realise the smaller the number the longer the cut - doh!!

Thanks for the advice, maybe I'll try a 5F!

what also affect the results is weather you go with the coat ie down the hair or go up the coat ie up under the hair. going up gets a much shorter result with the same blade and going down gives a longer results. learnt the hard way with that!! love and licks jackie and louis

You don't own a springer - a springer owns you....your bed, your wallet, your leftovers.....etc etc
