How many of us think we are good doing basic things with our dogs and then realise what a useless utter nutter I am! I have made friends with a lady down my road which leads on to the woods. She has had dogs for years and at one time had 26 of them. From rottweilers to scottish terriers! She helps out at a rescue near where we live and has took on a very old dog called Ted who she now fosters. He was agressive, a killer of other animals in a chase, went for other dogs and was a stray. An ugly looking old dog that nobody wanted as he strayed from home to home. In the space of 15 mths, this dog has altered to be the most friendly, obedient and actually has altered his mannerism to make him an attractive obedient dog who will happily walk round the field with Summer at his side. She decided to take him on to empty a kennel space for another dog. Well, we have a laugh as she thinks I am far too soft with Summer. In the space of a walk, she had Summer not jumping up to greet her, sitting and staying, and not moving until she told her too. Walking through the gate into the woods before Summer was allowed and I couldn't believe my eyes. My interpretation of Summer kissing Ted on the mouth made her laugh as she said 'she's just after food!'
We've booked to go to Turkey in June and have booked Summer in kennels for the week but I keep dropping hints that she could have a nice weeks holiday with Margaret and Ted but she's not twigged on properly!
Oh well, I can keep trying. It would be lovely to come back to a model dog.
